NORTH HURON
Rural creativity is on exhibit in North Huron. Wingham is the birthplace of CKNX Radio and former television station for rural Ontario. The tradition continues today with concerts by contemporary artists at the Wingham Town Hall Theatre. The Village of Blyth is home to the Blyth Centre of the Arts, home of the Blyth Festival and Blyth Festival Art Gallery as well a cluster of retail galleries featuring for the work of artists and artisans from across Ontario.
1. The Blyth Steam Show and Threshers Reunion

The Blyth Steam Show and Threshers Reunion share Huron County’s agricultural legacy with displays of antique tractors and equipment. Tractor pulls, petting zoo, music and dance competitions, children’s activities and a daily corn roast are some of the other features of this jam-packed annual event.

The Cheers of North Huron. Warm hospitality with classic pub fare done well. The Blyth Inn also known as the Boot features a Wing Night on Thursdays that is a local institution. There has even been a play written about it.
3. Blyth Festival

The Blyth Festival has put rural Canadians centre stage, telling our stories, sharing our history, and celebrating our way of life since 1975. A professional theatre company offering 4 shows in the 373-seat Blyth Memorial Hall and the Donnelly’s Trilogy by James Reaney on the outdoor Harvest Stage in 2023.
4. Fun Fact

A historical whodunit. Visit the Arson Map in downtown Blyth and come up with your own theory on who the arsonist was that burnt down 31 buildings in the village from 1900-1901.
5. Goderich to Guelph – Blyth Trailhead
The Guelph to Goderich Rail Trail, or G2G, is a 132 km trail along the former CPR Railway line abandoned in 1988 and now a highly accessible public recreational trail for non-motorized use – walking, hiking, running, cycling, snowshoeing, and skiing.
6. Alice Munro Garden

This master of the short story format and Noble Laureate for Literature is a Wingham native and live long resident of Huron County. Visit the Alice Munro Garden in Wingham, 273 Josephine Street, and head out from there on the self-guided walking tour of points of interest in the town of Wingham relating to Munro’s work.
7. Wingham Town Hall Theatre

This hidden gem is a real showstopper. Enjoy live performances including concerts, theatre and comedy shows.
8. Cruikshank Park

Cruikshank Park is located in downtown Wingham. This park is dedicated to Doc Cruickshank, radio pioneer and founder of CKNX, which put Wingham on the map as the Radio and Television Town of Canada.
9. The Book Barn on 86

Experience a world of books at The Book Barn on 86. This well-organized and unique bookstore is in a restored 19th-century bank barn. A great place to browse and relax while finding a treasure to take home.
