Experience beautiful, rural scenery and diverse landscapes on a cycling adventure through Huron County! Hit the paved roads suited for both road and mountain bicycles, and cycle the rural landscapes varying from flat to rolling hills—with the occasional demanding climb.
Brussels 26-35
Difficulty: Coming Soon
Length: 26 km
Start: Brussels, Turnberry Street or any side street
Best to start in Brussels as there is parking on the street and shady side streets. The route passes through the hamlets of Cranbrook and Ethel, but Brussels is the only community with stopping places for snacks and meals. The roads are generally quiet and flat. The farm fields all around are bountiful and ever changing. There are two short busy sections; Brussels Line (County Road 12) north and south of Brussels and Newry Road (County Road 16).
Howick 15-25
Difficulty: Slightly rolling to moderately hilly
Length: 25 km

Travel is through a plentiful agricultural area with well-maintained farmsteads and fields. This brings a change of scene with each season. Villages are spread apart and there are few built-up areas. Some of the roads can be busy with traffic depending on season and time of day (for example long weekends brings cottage traffic). Harriston Road (County Road 87) can be quite busy. However, the road has wider shoulders between Wroxeter and Gorrie. Vehicles can be parked in the villages of Wroxeter, Gorrie. Fordwich, Mildmay or Clifford. Facilities with food and drink are available in Mildmay and Clifford for the 36-50 or the 60+ routes.

Wingham 26-35
Difficulty: Easy-Medium
Length: 34 km
Start: Wingham Cemetery, 90378 Holmes Line
From the Wingham Cemetery, take quiet Holmes Line (Sideroad 25) north to Concession 2. Go west through some hilly terrain with lots of trees and carry on as the road swings to the south (Whitechurch St) to the village of Whitechurch on gently rolling farmland terrain. Reverse the route to return to Wingham.
Wingham 36-50
Difficulty: Easy
Length: 39 km
Start: Wingham Cemetery, 90378 Holmes Line
From the Wingham Cemetery, take quiet Holmes Line (Sideroad 25) north to Concession 2. Turn right (east), crossing Hwy 4. A scenic, quiet ride, through gently rolling farmland to the Belmore Line (#12). Turn right and continue 6 km through Belmore to Howick-Turnberry Rd (#7). Turn right and head straight back to Wingham for 10kms through gently rolling farmland. At Hwy 4, cross over and continue on Josephine St. to get to the north end of town.
Wingham 51-60 East
Difficulty: Intermediate
Length: 58 km
Start: Wingham or Mildmay
This route can be started in Wingham or Mildmay where parking is easy to find. Both towns offer places to rest, and find food and drink. The roads are a mix of quiet paved secondary roads and busier County Roads. County Road 12 north of Belmore and County Road 28 south of Mildmay can be busy, especially if there is weekend traffic. The route is generally rolling hills with a few flat sections as the till plains of Huron and Perth give way to the kames of South Bruce. You may notice smaller crop fields and more livestock on the hills.

Starting in Wingham, this route can be ridden clockwise or counter-clockwise. Counter-clockwise is best if there is a good stiff westerly wind. It will give you an nice tail wind across the south part of the loop. The route passes through the hamlets of Whitechurch, Belgrave and Bluevale. Belgrave makes a good part-way stop with snacks and shade available. The route is flat to gently rolling, although there are a couple of good climbs out of river valleys. Most of the roads are quiet. A short section on Amberley Road (County Road 86) west of Whitechurch is quite busy and the shoulder is narrow. There is also a short section on Harriston Road (County Road 87) north of Bluevale, but the shoulder has been widened allowing riders to be separated from the traffic.
Wingham 51-60 North

From the Wingham Cemetery, take quiet Holmes Line (SR25) north to Concession 2. Turn right and continue to Hwy 4. Go left (north) two kilometres to Concession 4. Be vigilant on Hwy 4, as vehicles are at high speed. Enjoy the tranquility on Concession 4 heading west. At the fork in the road, bear to the left and down the hill. Quiet roads, pastoral scenery, and a couple of hills along the way. At Wolfe St. turn left. Continue down this nicely undulating country road with lots of trees south to Hwy 86. There, go left 2 km into Whitechurch. Again, be vigilant of high speed traffic on Hwy 86. At Whitechurch, go left (north) and enjoy the rolling countryside and a couple of hills, turning right at Holmes Line back into Wingham. Always an energizing and enjoyable ride.
Wingham 60+

Follow the previous 50 km Whitechurch route out of Wingham, along Concession 4 to Wolfe St. This time, turn right at Wolfe St., heading north. Continue past the STOP sign at #6 and on the curve, take a right onto the Kinloss Culross Line. After 3 kms turn to the left onto Statters Lake Ave. Pass many Mennonite farms on this delightful and quiet country road with tree lines and shady areas along the way. At Road #1, go left (south) one concession into Holyrood. There, stop at the nostalgic Holyrood General Store for ice cream, the best selection in the area. Take the same route back as far as Wolfe St., then continue south all the way to Hwy 86. From there, it is the same previous route to Whitechurch, turning left on Whitechurch St. and back to Wingham on Holmes Line.
