International Agri-food Workers (IAW) Supporter Workshop
International Agri-food Workers (IAW) Supporter Workshop
The agri-food industry is a critical component of South Huron and Huron County’s economy. Increasingly, the agri-food industry seems to be relying on internationally trained and educated talent. According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (2024), over the past five years, the number of temporary work permits issued for South Huron employers has increased from 20 in 2017 to 210 in 2023. Among those temporary work permits issued in South Huron, 86% were for people to work in agriculture, harvesting or natural resource industries.
