This August long weekend, take a scenic drive down quiet country roads and discover the simple joys of shopping local on the Homestead Harvest Trail—part of the Huron County Taste Trails. Running from August 1–4, this self-guided tour is a celebration of local food, rural charm, and the hardworking producers that make Huron County a true farm-to-table destination.

What is the Homestead Harvest Trail?

The Homestead Harvest Trail is your invitation to slow down and savour the season. From roadside stands to cozy farm shops, each stop on the trail offers something fresh and unique—sun-ripened fruits, crisp vegetables, homemade baked goods, jams, flowers, and more. As you wind your way through the countryside, you’ll not only enjoy stunning rural views, but also connect with the people behind the produce.

Whether you’re stocking up for the week, planning a picnic, or just enjoying a leisurely day out, the Homestead Harvest Trail is a perfect way to support local while soaking up the summer sunshine.

How It Works

📍 Locations: Participating stops across Huron County

Here’s what to expect:

  • Visit participating businesses and explore their offerings
  • Enter to win at each stop—receive one ballot per person, per location
  • Look for the feather banner to identify each participating stop
  • Share your adventure on social media using our hashtag for a chance at bonus prizes!

All locations will have ballot boxes and entry forms provided—just bring your sense of adventure (and maybe a cooler for your local haul).

Yellow Brick Acres is a small farm dedicated to growing a wide variety of fresh, seasonal vegetables. You can find our produce at local farmers’ markets or stop by our roadside stand, located just 3 km west of Exeter, Ontario. 

CONTEST RULES & REGULATIONS

The Huron County Taste Trails Homestead Highlight Contest is only open to residents of Canada. The contest STARTS TUESDAY, August 1, 2025, at 9:00 AM EST.  No purchase is necessary. The contest ENDS MONDAY, August 4, 2025, at 6:00 PM EST. Winners will be privately contacted. Not sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with Facebook or Instagram.

Rules and Guidelines:

  1. The contest is open to residents of Canada. Employees of the County of Huron, or any affiliates and associates, such as employees, immediate family, and persons with whom employees are domiciled, are excluded from this contest.
  2. Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
  3. The prize is NOT redeemable in cash and must be accepted as awarded. The prize is a gift certificate from a local tourism business valued at $100.00 – no substitutions will be available; the decision is final. The County of Huron retains the right to make substitutions of equivalent kind or approximate value of any prize or component of the prize for any reason whatsoever. Ontario’s West Coast may not be held liable for any loss, damage, or injury associated with accepting or using this prize(s). One ballot per person, per location.
  4. Winners must sign a release form as prepared and accepted by Ontario’s West Coast, acknowledging their acceptance and understanding of the complete contest rules.
  5. The winner(s) is required to answer a skill-testing question before the prize is awarded.
  6. This contest is subject to all federal, provincial, and municipal laws.
  7. Ontario’s West Coast reserves the right to withdraw or terminate this contest at any time without prior notice.
  8. Entries will be declared invalid if they are late, illegible, incomplete, damaged, irregular, mutilated, forged, garbled, or mechanically or electronically reproduced. No communication or correspondence will be exchanged with entrants except with those selected for one of the prizes.

The goal of the Huron County Taste Trails is to make it easier to shop local and connect directly with the people who grow and make the food we eat.
