National Historic Places Day

The Huron County Museum & Historic Gaol is once again participating in National Historic Places Days! Join us in celebrating our historic sites by enjoying free admission on Sunday, July 9. We will also be offering fun family activities at both the Museum and Gaol.

This year’s event celebrates the five senses. All are welcome to join us for these events that celebrate sound and taste.

Gaol: Enjoy live music in the courtyard with the Bayfield Ukulele Society (1:30pm & 2:15 pm) and Elise Puska of Huron Harp School (3pm & 3:45pm). Games in the courtyard will also be available all day. And don’t forget to take a selfie to enter National Historic Places’ Days Photo Contest for your chance to win $1,000. Selfie stations will be available, including selfies with our ‘last prisoner’!

Museum: Join us for an ice cream social and tastings of local products from Taste of Huron and Eat Local Huron! Free ice cream while supplies last. Kids activities will include Make-Your-Own-Glasses, just like our founding curator J. H. Neill. Use your creations to take selfies to enter the  National Historic Places Days’ Photo Contest for your chance to win $1,000!
